Low Back Stretch is designed to guide you to the best and safest stretch for your unique lower back tightness and/or pain by using expert level analysis and stretch advice.
Our mission is to raise the bar to a more responsible level when it comes to selecting and performing low back stretches. Because so much back stretching advice is generic and often dangerous for low back conditions, we strive to educate and promote safe and effective low back stretch prescription based on an analysis of one’s current back status, and how they respond to different stretch techniques. Our position is that the safest and most effective back stretches need to be highly individualized and that through an analysis of one’s response to direction-specific stretch loading and stretch methods, the best 1-2 stretches can be found for each person.
Developed by Dr. Remy who became frustrated with generic low back stretches that were either hurting his patients and online clients, or simply not effective and
wasting their time. He sought to develop a stretching program that individualized
stretching prescription based on an analysis of his patient’s unique back condition,
and target what was most responsible for their recurring back tightness and pain.
The result was an analysis of an individual’s posture and movement that clearly
determined what provoked and relieved pain. This was similar to his chiropractic
sports orthopedic analysis he used with his patients to determine diagnosis and
treatment strategies. From the analysis, the direction of therapeutic stretch became
easily determined, and this followed with several types of stretch strategies that
needed to be further tested to determine which gave the best results for each
individual. The end result was a direction-specific and highly customized stretch
that was unique for each back issue, optimizing results and minimizing
stretch time and risk of injury.
Dr. Michael C Remy is a chiropractic orthopedist and sports physician whose 93% success rate with chronic low back pain patients over the last 33 years includes many cases which have failed to improve with other traditional medical and alternative treatments. Dr. Remy’s treatment approach is based on improving a patient’s body mechanics, spinal stability and physical conditioning through tailored exercises and movement patterns that reduces offending back stress, while supporting the body’s natural healing process. His self- rehab exercises have been sought out by clients world-wide, as well as by other back pain doctors suffering and frustrated with their own back pain issues.
An author of over a dozen books and programs on healing exercises for musculoskeletal injuries, Dr. Remy developed the Low Back Stretch Programs as an answer for his patients who were not consistent with their back rehab exercises, complaining that they did not like to exercise, or did not have the time for rehab during their busy schedules. The Low Back Stretch Programs provide a simple way for those with back tightness and pain to enjoy relief.
Dr. Remy continues to develop and refine the Low Back Stretch Programs, incorporating the latest discoveries in exercise and rehab science, to offer his patients and online clients a cutting edge self-management skill. He maintains a private clinical practice in Long Island, New York.
